Cone Beam X-rays are a 3 dimensional X-ray of the structures of the mouth. It is similar to a cat scan but fortunately is much lower (25 to 40 times lower) in radiation then a CAT scan. The Cone Beam X-ray is useful in evaluating the amount and quality of bone for dental implants. The software of CEREC is interfacing with cone beam X-ray software and enabling the planning and coordination of implant placement with the position of the final crown and fabrication of the abutment.
