Conscious Sedation is performed without an IV or putting the patient to sleep. It is very helpful for patients that have severe anxiety in receiving dental treatment. The patient is given an oral sedative that relaxes them but does not put them “to sleep”. The patient is awake, but the medication is amnesic and patients remember very little of the procedure. The patient must be driven to and from the appointment. We utilize Sedation Monitoring for conscious sedating of patients.
