Minimizing Mercury Toxicity

Mercury Toxicity is a Controversial Subject

DSC03082No one disagrees that Mercury is toxic. It actually is one of the most toxic substances known to man, just below the radioactive substances. We know that each person has some ability to chelate or remove toxins from their body and we all function with a toxic load to some degree. We also know that high levels of mercury will create mental problems, hence the term Mad as a Hatter. There is unfolding evidence that Mercury is a cofactor in many chronic diseases and conditions. The diagnosis of Mercury toxicity is not easy, as a blood test alone will not indicate the mercury burden on the body. In Florida, dentists are unable by license to diagnose toxicity, this must be done by a qualified medical professional. We work with the best medical and alternative health professionals. When it is deemed necessary to replace a Mercury amalgam filling we have a very safe protocol to protect your and our health. We are part of the ¼ of 1% of dentists in the United States certified to safely remove and dispose of mercury.

SDWC Patients Speak Out:

“I have avoided seeing any dentist for years and was overwhelmed with anxiety when I walked into Dr. Edward’s office for the first time. I was greeted with lots of smiles and a warm welcome. Dr Edward’s and his staff were very caring and understanding during the consultation and did not cause me to feel bad about avoiding the dentist for so long. Dr. Edwards gives you all your options without pressure and they advise you as to what needs attention first. They really try to educate you every step of the way so you have the knowledge to make informed decisions and improve your overall oral health. I was very concerned about my mercury fillings from the 1970’s. I wanted the fillings to be removed using the safest techniques possible. After an extensive online search for a holistic dentist who practiced safe techniques to remove mercury fillings, I found Dr. Edwards. He is meticulous, knowledgeable, and practices safe mercury filling removal. I felt totally confident while Dr. Edwards and his assistant worked on my teeth. I was educated all during the procedure and actually enjoyed listening to their conversation, laughing many times which helped calm my nerves. I was also able to listen to music of my choosing during the procedure to help relax and distract me….it helped a lot! I can’t say enough good things about my experience at Dr. Edward’s practice. I have been to many different dentists over the years and none of them come close to the level of knowledge, skill, and excellence of Dr. Edwards. He is outstanding and we are lucky to have a dentist of this caliber in this part of central Florida.” Angie’s List
