Doctor Chris Edwards with the help of his brother Mike, has donated a two turntable, mobile cart for the use of our local Public Radio station. Thanks to the fine woodworking and mentoring of John Van Ry from Bad wood, a custom rolling 2 Turntable Cart was built by he and Dr E of maple and hardwood with design help from Sonny the audio engineer and Fred Migliore the DJ. Two vintage professional technics DJ turntables were procured and tuned up locally by Ken at Audioronics. Dr Edwards added a professional pre-amp from England and put it together for the station.
The turntables had their inaugural spin Sunday April 10th on Fred Migliore’s -FM Odyssey radio show, as part of the WFIT Spring fund drive. Smile Design and Wellness Center challenged the listeners to a $2000 challenge grant in the first two hours, and at the end of the 3 hour show the tally was just shy of $4000. This showed support for the new turntables, opening up a whole new catalog of music that most of the DJs already own. This show also highlighted Fred’s 25 years of producing FM Odyssey, broadcasting from WFIT. The volunteers and staff at the station had a surprise pot luck party for Fred and his dog zero. The Sandman made an appearance and gifted Fred
his own personal copy of the album set DzChicago –Fourdz as an anniversary gift. He chose DzI am a Mandz as the song he played, an old Steve Winwood. tune, Live from Carnegie Hall. There was a sense of joy and community DzIn the Housedz at WFIT on Sunday afternoon at the end of a successful FUN drive. Good Stuff! Fred has promised Mike and Chris a future chance to visitand guest DJ on an all 3 hour vinyl show- stay tuned.
